Art and Human Rights: “You Have the Right to Know Your Rights” Campaign in Ukraine

We are proud to announce the launch of our latest communication campaign in Ukraine: “You Have the Right to Know Your Rights”. This initiative serves as a promotion of the Human Rights Guide in Ukraine (rights.in.ua), our online educational platform.

A creative collaboration

The campaign was born from a unique partnership between the Guide Network member, Center for Civil Liberties (CCL), and the Kharkiv Design and Art State Academy. The idea of the campaign was to move away from traditional, formal legal imagery.

Students from the Academy created a series of distinct visuals. These posters feature unexpected "heroes" - including frogs, fishes, dogs, chess pieces, and earphones. Each design incorporates a thought-provoking message about human rights and a QR code linking directly to the Human Rights Guide.

Online and across Ukraine

The posters were first introduced digitally on social media and websites. Later, the posters were placed in various Kyiv educational institutions, including the National Technical University “KPI”, Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, National Statistic and Audit Academy and National Aviation University.

The posters were also distributed to 8 more different regions and other universities with the help of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine.

This project is financially supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia under the "Development Cooperation Projects and International Aid" Programme. The project in Eastern partnership countries is supported by its associate partners the Ombudsman of the Republic of Latvia, the Riga Graduate School of Law, 2022 Nobel prize winner Center for Civil Liberties (Ukraine), the People's Advocate of Moldova, the Equality Council of Moldova and the Grigol Robakidze University Georgia.
