On 12 December, Baltic Human Rights Society was awarded the Erasmus+ Quality Award "Spārni 2024" at a ceremony organised by the State Education Development Agency (Valsts izglītības attīstības aģentūra, VIAA).
Baltic Human Rights Society won the award for our project "Inclusive Human Rights Education - a pathway to public participation and shared values of European citizens", which focuses on promoting inclusive human rights education in Latvia and Europe through the self-help platform the Human Rights Guide.
The prize is awarded for the development and sustainable implementation of high-quality projects, highlighting projects that enrich the educational environment, foster innovation and contribute to the development of society.
Zane Gailīte, Director of the Erasmus+ Programme Department at VIAA, noted:
"The Erasmus+ Quality Award "Spārni" recognises excellence - not only in project ideas and implementation, but also in the values that permeate them. These projects significantly enrich the educational environment, where not only knowledge is acquired, but also our society grows and develops."
The Human Rights Guide is dedicated to human rights education as a means to promote public participation and strengthen the common values of European citizens. The project has expanded the Guide not only in terms of content with new topics, rights, tests and other materials, but also geographically, with it being now available in 10 countries outside of Latvia since 2024.
We would like to thank all the project partners, participants and supporters whose contributions helped us achieve this excellence. This award motivates us to continue our work in the field of human rights education, building inclusive and just societies.
