The Baltic Human Rights Society (BHRS) is proud to announce its inclusion in the Fundamental Rights Agency’s (FRA) civil society cooperation channel – the Fundamental Rights Platform.
FRA is an independent centre of reference and excellence for promoting and protecting fundamental rights in the EU. It provides independent, evidence-based advice to EU and national decision makers, thereby helping to make debates, policies and legislation on fundamental rights better informed and targeted. In order to achieve this, FRA consults and cooperates with its partners on collecting and analysing information and data through socio-legal research.
The Fundamental Rights Platform's objectives include the following:
- Facilitating information exchange - the platform and FRA regularly share updates on their activities and other pertinent topics.
- Offering thematic insights and strategic guidance to FRA - the platform provides FRA with valuable input and advice on specific themes and strategies.
- Building connections - FRA works to strengthen its relationships with platform organisations and foster collaboration among them.
- Providing resources and tools - FRA shares materials and tools particularly relevant to the operations of civil society organisations.
The Fundamental Rights Platform invites a diverse range of organizations engaged in fundamental rights to collaborate, including non-governmental, professional and other organizations, religious and philosophical groups, universities, and experts affiliated with international or European institutions. BHRS is honored to join this platform, seeing it as an opportunity to contribute to collaborative efforts, share knowledge, and enhance its own work in promoting and protecting human rights.
In 2023 BHRS in collaboration with the Riga Graduate School of Law won a tender to join the FRA multidisciplinary research network – within which, among other projects and areas of research, BHRS contributed to the Fundamental Rights Report 2024.
