On December 6, 2024, a Human Rights Guide event was held in Yerevan, Armenia, marking the introduction of the Human Rights Guide for the Armenian context.
The event, organized with the Europe in Law Association (ELA), was structured into two sessions. The first session focused on the Human Rights Guide project, highlighting its significance in fostering respect for democratic values and the rule of law. BHRS Executive Director, Agnese Koligina, delivered a compelling presentation on the Guide's mission to enhance human rights awareness among individuals, professionals, and educators. She emphasized the platform’s user-friendly design, collaborative development, and country-specific resources tailored to the diverse needs of its audience.
The second session featured an engaging discussion led by Judge Joanna Korner from the International Criminal Court (ICC). She explored the critical relationship between NGOs and the ICC, sharing insights on how civil society organizations can contribute to upholding international justice. The session provided a valuable opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of the ICC's work and its impact on human rights advocacy.
Attendees included representatives from Armenian civil society, legal professionals, and human rights advocates. Informal discussions and networking opportunities during the coffee break fostered meaningful connections and dialogue, with simultaneous language interpretation ensuring accessibility for all participants.
The full launch of the Human Rights Guide in Armenia is expected in 2025 with Armenia becoming the 12th country where the Guide is available.
