Dr Arina Melse’s fields of competence include civil and political rights, as well as international humanitarian and criminal law. She holds a PhD from the University of Copenhagen, where she was an affiliate researcher at iCourts, the Centre of Excellence for International Courts. Arina holds Master’s degrees in International Human Rights and Humanitarian law, Public International Law, and Law. These qualifications were obtained at the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights and the Graduate Institute Geneva, Leiden University, and the University of Latvia. She has worked for the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and the International Criminal Court in The Hague. Arina is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Riga Graduate School of Law.
