Human Rights Guide: Meet the Guide on social networks

The Baltic Human Rights Society (BHRS) created new social media profiles for the Human Rights Guide project in 2022.

For the Human Rights Guide project, Facebook and Instagram accounts were created - two accounts on each social platform, one for Latvia-wide dissemination and one for Europe-wide dissemination.

The Latvian accounts are only in Latvian. The aim is to disseminate the Guide in Latvia and to provide users with brief but useful information on the human rights featured in the Guide. The aim of the pan-European account is to raise the profile of the Guide in Europe and internationally by introducing the Guide and its content to the general public, as well as to new partners and supporters of the Guide.

From September 2022 onwards, all accounts were regularly updated with publications to disseminate the Guide's network and content at European and national level.

The Europe-wide Facebook account reached 206 users in the first four months of operation, while the Instagram account reached 234 users. The Latvian Facebook account reached 502 users and the Instagram account 183 users during the same period.

Social media accounts are publishing various types of content, including:

- Guide topics and rights overview
- Summaries of case law
- Guide content publications
- Reminders of international days
- Quotes
- Information on the Guide's European Network Partners
- Other publications related to project activities, e.g. environmental campaigns, lecture series, etc.
